ACCREDITED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGISTS (AEPS) AND THE DISABILITY SECTOR:

  • An integrated exercise physiology approach across the disability sector, including the NDIS, is required to improve the quality of life and life expectancy for Australians living with a disability.

  • There is compelling evidence that clinical exercise interventions, as delivered by AEPs, provide a range of physical, mental and psychosocial benefits to people with a disability. Exercise improves cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and balance, decreases symptoms of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety and pain.

AEPS HAVE A VITAL ROLE IN:

  1. Assisting participants under the NDIS to realise their goals and aspirations through evidence based individualised exercise programs

  2. Developing activities for NDIS participants that will empower them and support their daily living, social inclusion and functional well-being
